Black Stars Head Coach, Milovan Rajevac has defended his decision to include AS Roma youngster Felix Afena-Gyan in his 28-man squad for next week’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers agaisnt Ethiopia and South Africa.
According to the Serbian tactician, the 18-year old has what it takes to make an impact for Ghana’s senior national team as they seek to secure qualification to next year’s mundial in Qatar.
Addressing the media through his interpretor after announcing his latest Black Stars squad at the GFA Secretariat in Accra, Rajevac said he was convinced by the qualities of the young attacker after his breakthrough to AS Roma’s first team.
The Serbian continued that, Afena-Gyan’s recent promotion and the trust imposed in him by no less a coach than the demanding Jose Mourinho shows the how talented he is as a player.
Milovan Rajevac announced the latest Black Stars on Thursday ahead the final two World Cup qualifying matches agaisnt Ethiopia and South Africa.
The 18-man squad will start reporting on Monday November 8, 2021.
The team will live Accra South Africa on Tuesday November 9 ahead of the penultimate qualifying match versus Ethiopia on Thursday November 11.
The Black Stars will then return to Ghana to start preparing for Sunday November 14 showdown with South Africa at the Cape Coast Stadium.
