Ghanaian female FIFA referee Theresa Bremansu has compared her physical assault to that of an armed robbery at the hands of an agitated mob group.
The experience referee was subjected to face deformation beating by a yet to be identified supporter of of Prisons Ladies in their 1-0 semi final defeat.
A middle aged man caught by cameras at the military park was seen molesting Theresa at the full glare of the security apparatus and the teaming fans.
Narrating her ordeal on Accra based Happy 98.9 FM, the traumatised official compared her physical assault to that an unlucky armed robber caught by an angry mob group.
“I was beaten like an armed robber”, Theresa Bremansu told Happy FM.
She added, “I cried for help but nobody came to my rescue. After beating me, their masseur had the gut to tell me she wish I was beaten to death”.
Organizers of the Women’s special competition are yet to come out with an official statement on the viral issue.
Theresa’s case is a first litmus test for the Normalization Committee in terms of disciplinary adjudication and their reforms will go a long way to curbing the never ending referee maltreatment on the local scene.
