Official: Asamoah Gyan Joins Legon Cities on a 1 year loan deal

Black Stars General captain Asamoah Gyan has officially joined Legon Cities in the Ghana Premier League after Asante Kotoko backed off a possible deal with the Ghanaian Striker.

Gyan comes to the Ghana Premier League after a 17 year stint with foreign based sides in a career that has seen him become the National team’s all time top scorer.

He is joining the side on a one year loan deal with option to buy in  deal worth over 1 million Dollars

The former Sunderland striker who has been club less after parting ways with Indian club, Northeast united, was initially expected to join Ghanaian giants, Asante kotoko ahead of the 2020/2021 Premier league season. The deal however did not sail through.

In as much as Asamoah Gyan would have wanted to finish a career that has given him so much with the last roll of the dice on home soil with his favourite club Asante Kotoko, he also wanted a club that can match his ambition financially and on the pitch. Reports in the local media says , Kotoko backed off after he demanded a mammoth $400,0000.

Asamoah Gyan is the all-time leading goalscorer of the Ghana senior nation team, the black stars,with 51 goals to his name.

Having represented the Black Stars of Ghana at the FIFA world cup in 2006,2010 and 2014, Gyan made sure he left an indelible mark at the mundial. He is the top African goalscorer at the world cup, with 6 goals.

Gyan will add further allure and appeal to the well branded and neatly packaged Legon Cities Football club commercially.
