Manchester City’s hopes of signing Lionel Messi have been dashed after the player rescinded his decision to leave Barcelona.
The Argentine had tendered in a transfer request weeks ago with City said to have reached an agreement with the six-time FIFA Balon d’or winner.
Barcelona on the other hand threatened legal action against the 33-year-old who still one year left on his contract.
Messi has decided to stay out with the Catalans at least for the next one year.
“I never wanted to go to court with Barcelona because it’s the club that I love,” Messi told Goal.
“If that was the only way of leaving, I’m staying.”
Man City we’re willing to meet the player’s demands to have him at Etihad.
