POLITICS – The cause of Ghana’s 42 year AFCON trophy drought – Asamoah Gyan reveals.

 

Former Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan says Political divisions among Ghanaians is the cause of the country’s inability to win any AFCON trophy for the past 42 years.

Asamoah Gyan Speaking from Yaounde, Cameroon following the AFCON draw told Asempa FM, the Country must be united in supporting the players during championships.

 

The ‘Baby Jet’, regarded as one of the best players on the African continent maintains the focus on players bonuses is a major worry to the playing and technical team of the Black Stars

“I have never seen a country so focused on what players earn during the tournament than the trophy, usually when we set up to play an AFCON tournament, the whole country discuss the bonus of the players, rather than thinking of the trophy at stake” he told Asempa FM’S Kwadwo Mensah Moshosho

“We are divided as a Nation, and its something that do not help the course of the Black Stars, the players get distracted with such thinking”

The former captain was a special guest of honor during the CAF draw as one of the legends of Africa with picking one of the Pots
