Asante Kotoko’s marvelous performance against SAC FC was greeted with a disappointing attendance at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium as CK Akunnor registered his first win as coach of the Porcupine Warriors.
Goals from Agyemang Badu, Frederick Boateng and Kwame Bonsu tamed the Burkinabe side who struggled to find their feet against the Ghanaian giants who were playing their second game in two days.
Despite the massive euphoria surrounding the arrival of CK Akunnor and the wonderful display of football demonstrated by the Reds, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was virtually gasping with hunger.
Reports were that several fans were behind the gates with unending complains of gate fee hikes.
Many of the fans argued paying GHC5 to watch the clash between the Black Stars and Kotoko for the center line, scoreboard and Amakom stands while GHC10 were charged for the same stands in the clash on Sunday.
The disappointing attendance was least expected as the Porcupine Warriors’ admirable performance against the Black Stars was expected to bring the fans in their numbers for the game.
The win is Akunnor’s first after being named as coach of the Porcupine Warriors.
