The German born Ghanaian pop star forward flourished on his return to serie A in a 1-0 opening win over a star-studded Inter Milan side.
The nomadic attacker was instantly adored by his new trainer Roberto De Zerbi, who described his new recruit as a true striker.
A Domenico Belradi’s spot kick won the game for the Tricolor with some blistering quick feet from Kevin Prince Boateng to match.
Speaking after the perfect opening weekends in the Serie A, Roberto de Zerbi stunned the media with how he landed Prince Boateng.
“I stole the idea from when he was at Las Palmas, a team that I very nearly went to work for. It’s very helpful, especially at the start of the season, to have a player in attack who can find his way out of pressing.
“The way Boateng attacks the space makes him a real Number 9, not a False Nine. We try to push the moves more down the flanks with Federico Di Francesco and Domenico Berardi.
“Boateng is also very important in the locker room. He is always positive and enthusiastic, but also very helpful for some players who just arrived and can’t speak Italian yet. If they need help communicating in English, German, French or Spanish, he’s always on hand to make them feel more comfortable.”
The former AC Milan attacker led German side Eintracht Frankfurt to the DFP Pokal on his return to the Bundesliga before making a U-turn to the Serie A.
He has since featured for Genoa, Pousthmouth , Tottenham Hotspurs, Las Palmas and Shalke 04 in a long list of clubs spanning across four countries.
