Following the departure of president Josep Bartomeu on Tuesday night, FC Barcelona has confirmed that their presidential elections will take place in January.
Reports from Cadena Sar now indicates that the club’s presidential elections are expected to take place early in the second week of January, with January 9th/10th decided as the tentative dates.
Before the elections, the club will now be under Carles Tusquets who has been part of the administration during Josep Nunez’s tenure as President between 1978 and 2000 and worked as a treasurer.
While Tusquets will not be vying in the forthcoming elections, his position is likely to be taken by either Victor Font, Jordi Farre, Joan Laporte or Antoni Freixa; the quartet being the frontrunner for the seat.
Laporte, who has already served as Barca’s President between 2003 and 2010, is yet to announce his presidency officially but is rumoured to be prepared to begin his campaign shortly.
