But in a surprise turn of event, the President of Ghana Nana Akufo Addo has hinted on the eminent ‘kidnap’ of the coach upon his arrival in the country.
In a Telephone Conversation with the coach after the victorious qualification in Abuja, President Akufo Addo told the Coach to prepare to be kidnapped on arrival “Well-done, well-done, but when you come here we are going to kidnap you, we are not going to allow you to go back to Dortmund, so be very careful when you come here, you might not be able to leave Ghana again’. President Akufo Addo said in the Telephone conversation
President Akufo Addo who celebrated his birthday on the day of the qualification thanked the Coach and the team for their performance, describing the qualification as the best birthday present from the Black Stars
“Thank you, its the best possible birthday present that I could have had, the news of your qualification for the World cup is excellent, the whole country is excited, I don’t think people are going to sleep tonight.“ President Akufo Addo added.
