SWAG Launches 44th MTN/SWAG Awards

 

The Sports Writers association of Ghana (SWAG) has launched the 44th Awards to Honor deserving sporting personalities in Ghana.

The event, slated for May 11, 2019 is expected to give honors to the sports personality of th year, Boxer of the year, Footballer of the year, and many other distinguished sporting personalities.

The event was graced by executives of SWAG headed by its President Kwabena Yeboah, Maurice Quansah, Rosyln Amo, Charles Osei Asibbey, William Ezah, and Some members of the Association, with representatives of headline sponsor MTN, represented by the head of Corporate Service, Sam Koranteng.

Speaking at the Launch, the President of SWAG, Kwabena Yeboah reiterated the need to honor personalities who have worked so hard in the sports world. He said, SWAG has over the years honored many distinguished personalities including Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey, Nana Yaw Konadu, Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah, and many others who have raised the flag of Ghana through Sports, He acknowledged the contribution of MTN in the sustainability of the awards, and assured that, SWAG will do well, to ensure the relationship is maintained

In his speech delivered at the event, the head of Corporate Service, Sam Koranteng said, ” For us at MTN Ghana, our consistent sponsorship of SWAG is in direct consonance with our belief that sports plays and essential  part in the economic  growth of this country – this evident in how sports has lifted many people out of poverty and the unique nature of sports to bind us a nation.”

He noted that, both SWAG and MTN will work to renew its focus and will continue to work together with innovation to continue to honor hardworking sports men and women the needed recognition.
