Ghanaian international Thomas Partey has sent his goodbye message to Atletico Madrid fans following his departure to Arsenal on Monday.
The former Tema Youth midfielder who thanked the Atleti fans for ‘accepting and believing in him’ while he was a player at the club and thanked them for trusting him since day.
“Dear Atletico fans, today I only have words of gratitude for you. For several years now, Atletico Madrid has been my home and this family will always be a part of me.
“I want to thank the club for the trust placed in me from day one, but above all, I want to thank you, this wonderful fanbase that accepted me from the first moment and one that never stops believing in both the good and the bad times.
“Atletico Madrid is not just a club, it is a family. Thank you,” the player wrote in an Instagram post.
Arsenal triggered Partey’s £52.5m release clause with the club agreeing to pay Partey £260,000-a-week for four years, and handed him a whopping £2.5m upfront as a signing-on fee.
The message comes just hours after it was reported that Atletico was furious with Arsenal for the way in which they conducted their business on deadline day.
