Nigeria zoomed into the semi final of the 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nation with a merciless 6-0 thrashing of Equatorial Guinea at the Cape Coast Stadium to set up a mammoth clash against the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon in the first semi final match.
Reigning Women’s footballer of the year Assisat Oshoala recorded the tournament’s first hatrick to set the alarm bells ringing across the competition as the championship reaches its home streak end.
The 10 times AWCON champions made their intentions clear with an early goal from Francisca Ordega just 8 minutes into the game before Assisat completed a first half hat trick in 21 minutes to put the Falcons 4-0 up before recess.
Assisat found the back of the net in quick succession following her stunning strike on the 12th minute.
The festival of goals then saw Oparanazie getting her name on the score sheets moments after the break before Rita Chikwelu completed the rout 2 minutes into the hour mark.
The Super Falcons will now switch their attention to Tuesday’s semi final clash against the fearsome Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon as the race for title number 11 takes shape in the competition.
