Tottenham Hotspurs capture Pierre-Emile Højbjerg from Southampton

Tottenham Hotspurs have acquired Pierre-Emile Højbjerg from Southampton.

Højbjerg joins Spurs on a five-year deal after an agreement between the two Clubs.

The Danish midfielder will be in London for at least the next five years.

After a difficult time with German Champions Bayern Munich, Southampton handed the 25-year-old a transfer escape after loan spell at FC Augsburg and Schalke 04.

His time at Southampton was fruitful after scoring four times in 109 appearances for the Club.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg from Southampton,” a portion of a statement on Tottenham Hotspurs website read.

“The midfielder has signed a contract with the Club until 2025 and will wear the number five shirt.

“Højbjerg, who turned 25 last week, made a total of 128 appearances and scored five goals during his four-year spell at Southampton having joined them from Bayern Munich in 2016.”

The midfielder was one of the star players for the Saint last season in the English Premier League.
