The Accra Sports stadium will host over 80 Ghana Premier League matches when the season opens with the Club Licensing board of the Ghana FA approving the request of 5 clubs to use the facility.
The Club Licensing board provisionally approved the venue after a second inspection was carried by the Football governing body in October before the commencement of the 2021/22 season.
Three clubs, Accra Great Olympics, Accra Hearts of Oak, and Accra Lions had originally applied to use the venue, while Dreams FC, and Legon Cities who had earlier on applied to use the Dawu Park and the El-wak Stadium ordered to use the Accra Stadium following the rejection of their original application.
The Accra Sports Stadium, which hosted five clubs in the previous season suffered loss of pitch quality and is expected to experience same in the coming season.
When the season begins, the venue will be expected to host about 28% of the season’s games excluding National teams matches.
