wa-all-stars-almost-made-me-bankrupt-nyantakyiGhana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed some tough times he went through during WA All Stars involvement in Africa.
According to the CAF vice President, he almost became bankrupt during his side’s campaign in Africa.
WA All Stars played in the CAF Champions League last year after winning the Ghana Premier League for the first time.
The Upper West-based Club however got knocked out in the first round of the inter-club competition.
Nyantakyi reveals he was almost left with nothing after his side’s first trip to Libya.
“Playing in Africa is very difficult, it comes with a huge cost,” he said.
“I almost went bankrupt when my team WA All Stars was playing in the CAF Champions League.
“Just one trip alone will cost you thousands of dollars, and so it is important for government and the FA to come to the aid of Clubs in Africa.
“In many countries, the government supports Clubs participating in Africa.”
The Ghana Football Association handed a sum of $30,000 to Aduana Stars to aid them in their participation in Africa.
