Member of the executive council of the Ghana Football Association and former Chief executive officer for Premier league side Ashantigold, ⁸Frederick Acheampong has disclosed the Football Association had no option under the prevailing circumstances than to cancel the league.
The Ghana FA defered the decision on the league to June 30 even when CAF had given them a May 5 deadline to decide on the future of the suspended season.
The FA finally canceled the entire season after the Government of Ghana refused to allow contact sports including Football to resume until July 31.
The Government’s reluctance meant that the FA were obliged to wait till the ban is lifted.
“It was going to be difficult to play football, there is ban on football activities even if we had the means to circumvent around it there was a ban let alone the protocols we need to observe- Mr Frederick Acheampong told Oyerepa FM in Kumasi.
The Football Association says they have lost in excess of 2 million dollars after it brought the season to an end, while some clubs have expressed their disappointment to the decision
