“We Were Not Good Enough”- Jordan Ayew Reacts to Shock AFCON Exit

Ghanaian forward, Jordan Ayew has described Ghana’s performance in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations as “Not Good Enough”.
According to the Crystal Palace attacker, the team wasn’t enough to end Ghana’s 40-year Africa Cup of Nations trophy drought after suffering a humiliating exit from the 33rd edition staged in Cameroon.
The Black Stars exited the group stage for the first time since 2006 champions after a shocking 3-2 defeat to debutants Comoros in their final Group C game at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua Tuesday night.
Speaking to the media after the game, Jordan Ayew, who leaves the competition without a single goal to his credit said its a wake-up call for the young squad and an experience they must learn from.
“We were not good enough, we have a young squad, it’s a wake-up call for everyone and if we don’t learn from this then I don’t know,” Ayew said.
The result in Group C will go down as one of the biggest shocks in Nations Cup history as Comoros scored at the finals for the first time and then went on to record their first ever victory at the continental showpiece.
