Weekend update of Ghanaian players Abroad

Ghanaian players oversees were in action over the weekend in the respective Leagues. brings you a comprehensive update on how they fared for their respective Clubs.

Jordan Ayew was on the losing side when his side Crystal Palace suffered a 3-0 hammering at Leicester City in the English Premier League. The Ghanaian played the entire game for Palace. Jeffrey Schlupp was out of the Palace team with an injury whilst Daniel Amartey once again failed to make the Leicester City match-day squad. Andre Ayew increased his goal tally to 14 after scoring from the penalty spot in Swansea City’s 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship.

Former Inter Allies captain Joseph Aidoo watched from the bench as his Celta Vigo side were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Real Betis in the Spanish La Liga.  Highly-rated Mohammed Salisu dropped to the bench for the first time this season in Real Valladolid’s narrow win over Deportivo Alavés.  Iddrisu Baba was tiring in the Real Mallorca midfield despite their 3-0 loss to Atletico Madrid. Arsenal-bound Thomas Partey came on to play for Atletico Madrid. Youngster Alvin Appiah came off the bench to have a taste in Almeria’s 2-1 loss at home to Tenerife in the Spanish Segunda Division. Still in the Segunda Division, Emmanuel Lomotey, formally of Ghana’s U20 team enjoyed 54minutes and got booked in Extremadura’s 1-0 away loss to Numancia. Lomotey was replaced by countryman Sabit Abdulai.  Ghana U23 attacker Samuel Obeng could only make the Real Oviedo bench in their 2-0 defeat to Cádiz. Ernest Ohemeng was also an unused substitute in Mirandés 2-2 draw away with Fuenlabrada. Teenager Abdul Awudu made his Albacete debut when he came on to play in their 0-0 draw with Málaga. Richard Boateng, junior brother of ex-Black Stars midfielder Derek Boateng did not have any minute in Alcorcón’s 0-0 draw at home with Lugo.

Defender Bernard Kyere-Mensah was able to play a part in Viktoria Köln’s final game of the season against Uerdingen which ended in a 1-1 stalemate in the 3. Liga. The 25-year-old enjoyed 65minutes of action before making way for Saeed Hajrovic.

In the Austrian Bundesliga, Seth Paintsil was a second half substitute in Admira’s 0-0 draw away with Swarovski Tirol. Samuel Tetteh could do little to help LASK avoid a 3-0 loss at Salzburg with the former WAFA man coming off in the 75th minute. Ruben Acquah also played 90minutes and ensured Ried defeated Vorwärts Steyr 1-0 in the 2. Liga.

Reagan Obeng and Nasiru Moro both warmed the bench for Istra 1961 and HNK Gorica respectively in the Serbian top flight with the game ending in a 2-2 stalemate at the Stadion Aldo Drosina.

Former Kotoko centre-back Michael Ofosu Appiah enjoyed the full 90minutes in Flora’s 2-1 win over Trans in the Estonia League Cup.

Musah Armah and Sumudeen Musah both led the attack for TB who went away to lose 2-0 to KÍ in the Faroe Island Meistaradeildin.

Elsewhere in Finland, Kajaani went away to defeat MuSa 2-1. Former Ghana midfielder Geofrey Acheampong was in action for Kaajani and played until the 78th minute.  Thomas Agyiri played the full 90minutes and helped KTP pick valuable points away from home by thumping SJK Akatemia 3-0. Abu Senanu was unused in KPV’s 2-1 away win over MP in the Ykkönen.

Former FIFA U20 World Cup winner Samuel Inkoom was on the losing side as his Samtredia side suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Telavi in the Georgia top-flight.

In Latvia, Seidu Yahaya and his Liepāja side lost 2-1 to Ventspils in the Virsliga with the Ghanaian playing the entire duration of the game.  Daniel Adjetey came off the bench to play a part in BFC Daugavpils 3-1 defeat to Riga.

Emmanuel Hackman played 87minutes for relegation threatening Portimonense who lost 1-0 at home to Vitoria Guimaraes in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.  Kevin Osei Boateng came on to play the last 6minutes for Desportivo Aves in their 4-0 defeat to Sporting Braga. Lawrence Ofori managed only the bench for Famalicão who drew goalless with Tondela.

Former Dreams FC striker Zuberu Sharani came off the bench to score in DAC’s 2-0 triumph over Žilina in the Slovakia Super Liga. Still in Slovakia, Edmond Addo played full throttle in Senica’s 0-0 home draw with Zlaté Moravce. Ghana U23 star Osman Bukari was key in Trenčín’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Sereď.

In the Swedish Superettan, ex-Medeama and Ghana U20 midfielder Emmanuel Yeboah earned some game time as his Umeå side were held 0-0 at home by Öster. Ebenezer Ofori played 90minutes in AIK’s 1-1 draw with Falkenberg. Countryman Enoch Adu Kofi was unused by AIK. Abdul Halid Hudu also featured the entire game as his side Frej dropped points following a 2-1 defeat to Sollentuna in the Ettan. Ibrahim Alhassan could not play in Gefle’s 0-0 draw with Sylvia despite making the match-day squad. Saddick Abass and Enoch Adu were on the losing side when Nyköping were heavily hammered 4-0 by Sandviken with the Ghanaian pair playing the entire duration of the game. Naem Mohammed was on target for Sandviken. Patrick Kpozo played at left-back as he helped IFK Luleå pick all 3points away from home following a 1-0 win over IF Karlstad. Sylvester Simba was a bench warmer for IFK Luleå. Ex-Inter Allies midfielder Sabah Lawson played and helped Linköping City draw 1-1 with Torns. Isaac Shaze was in the winning team of Trollhättan who managed a narrow 1-0 triumph over Skövde AIK at home. Sadat Karim, formerly of Inter Allies and Hearts of Oak also helped Halmstad grab an important point away from home in their 0-0 draw with Brage. In the Damallsvenskan, the women division in Sweden, Black Queens winger Portia Boakye was a full-timer in Djurgården’s 1-1 draw with Umeå. Fatawu Shafiu came off the bench to play in Trelleborg’s 1-1 draw with GIF Sundsvall.

Afriyie Acquah also finished the entire game for Yeni Malatyaspor who failed to pick valuable points against Gençlerbirliği in the Turkish Super Lig. Isaac Cofie played a huge role in Sivasspor’s goalless draw with Kasimpasa. Caleb Ekuban led the attack for Trabzonspor and played the entire game in their 1-0 away win over Galatasaray. Gaziantep FK went away to beat Denizlispor 1-0. Raman Chibsah and Isaac Sackey were on the bench for Gaziantep FK and Denizlispor respectively. Aziz Tetteh and Patrick Twumasi were not in the Gaziantep FK match-day squad having completed their loan deals with the Club.

Kadiri Mohammed was a pillar at the back for Dynamo Kyiv but could not help them avoid a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Champions Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukrainian Premier League. The former Ashanti Gold centre back went into the referee’s books.

Ghana female international Jennifer Cudjoe after making her debut for Sky Blue last weekend came off the bench to play in their 1-0 loss to Utah Royals in the National Women’s Soccer League in USA.

Kwadwo Asamoah is still struggling for game time at Inter Milan and could only watched from the bench as they got stunned 2-1 at home by Bologna in the Italian Serie A. Alfred Duncan on the other hand played full 90minutes and helped Fiorentina grab all points after beating Parma 2-1 at the  Stadio Ennio Tardini. Emmanuel Agyemang Badu was also in action and lasted the full game in Hellas Verona’s 1-0 loss to Brescia. Abdul Basit and Bright Gyamfi were both not used in Benevento’s 3-0 loss to Crotone in the Serie B. Still in the Serie B, former Ghana U20 midfielder and 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup winner Bright Addai was a second half substitute for Juve Stabia who suffered defeat by losing 2-1 to Salernitana. Moses Odjer, formerly of Tema Youth and Ghana’s U20 team also played the last 17minutes for Trapani who defeated Livorno 2-1 at home. Ibrahim Mane was not used in Cremonese’s slender victory over Pescara. The Stadio Benito Stirpe saw Frosinone beating Spezia 2-1 with Ghanaian attacker Edwin Gyasi in action for Spezia and last 83minutes.

Benjamin Tetteh was part of Sparta Praha’s 3-0 thumping of Jablonec in the Czech Liga.

Mohammed Kudus was a key figure in Nordsjælland’s 1-0 loss to Midtjylland in the Danish Superlig. Countrymen Ibrahim Sadiq, Kamal Sulemana, Isaac Atanga and Abdul Mumin all played a part for Nordsjælland. Former Kotoko striker Dauda Mohammed enjoyed 72minutes in Esbjerg’s 2-1 loss to Horsens.

Francis Kyeremeh was in full time action for Žalgiris who drew goalless with Banga in the Lithuania A Lyga.

Gilbert Koomson and his Brann side suffered a 5-0 humiliation at the hands of Bodø / Glimt in the Norwegian Eliteserien. Michael Baidoo did not play in Jerv’s 2-1 defeat to KFUM. Midfielder Solomon Owusu started the game for Raufoss and got off in the 58th minute as they lost 1-0 to Tromsø.

Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi conceded one goal when his team St Gallen beat Sion 2-1. Musah Nuhu came off the bench to play the final 6minutes for St. Gallen in the Swiss Super League. Ransford Selasi watched his Lugano side lose 3-0 at Young Boys.

Francis Narh featured 67minutes and helped Slavia post a resounding 3-1 win over Slutsk in the Belarusian Premier League. Dennis Tetteh was on the bench for Slavia.

Ibrahim Arafat Mensah was a late substitute for Bravo as they lost 1-0 at home to Celje in the Slovenia top-flight.
